About the Consortium

A regional home for media & communication scholarship

The CCMCR is a proactive, responsive, and creative non-profit, non-partisan organisation based in Jamaica, with members and affiliates spanning the wider Caribbean region. We promote collective and individual academic research, scholarly publication, and creative productions that reflect the realities and aspirations of our people.

To advance, amplify, and empower Caribbean voices in media and communication research — at home and on the world stage.

Our Core Purpose

Three commitments that guide our work

01

Research & Publish

Create and Publish Original, Innovative, Scholarly and Ethical content exploring media, technology, culture, and communication within the Caribbean context.

02

Empower Scholars

Provide leadership, mentorship, and growth opportunities for emerging Caribbean research scholars, creatives, and graduate students.

03

Disseminate Globally

Amplify critical communication research and productions at community, national, regional, and global levels for the benefit of society.

Membership Pathways

Built for an equitable, collaborative community

Drawing membership from a diverse pool of collaborating scholars across Caribbean tertiary institutions, the Consortium maintains a strictly equitable, non-discriminatory environment.

Current CCMCR membership includes researchers from The University of the West Indies (UWI) CARIMAC, Northern Caribbean University (NCU), University of Technology, Jamaica (UTECH); Mico University College (The MICO). The Consortium does not speak on behalf of any of these institutions.

Open Call

Call for Logo Entries

The CCMCR has no official logo yet and we would rather discover it than dictate it. Ahead of our Inaugural Conference in November 2026, we invite designers, students, and creatives across the Caribbean to submit an original mark that will become the lasting face of the Consortium.

01

The Brief

A strong mark should convey:

  • A distinctly Caribbean identity and outlook
  • Our focus on media research, production and publication
  • A forward-looking, AI-era sensibility
  • Versatility — clear as a small icon and on a banner alike
02

What to Submit

  • A primary logo plus a one-colour (black & white) version
  • Vector source — SVG, AI, EPS or PDF — plus a PNG preview
  • A short design rationale (150 words maximum)
  • Original, unpublished work, free of third-party rights
03

How to Enter

  • Open to members, tertiary students & regional creatives
  • Up to two entries per designer
  • Submit via the entry form or email secretariat@ccmcr.org
  • Deadline: Friday, 2 October 2026

What the winner receives

Lasting credit as the creator of the official CCMCR identity, complimentary registration to the Inaugural Conference, one year regular/associate membership, and a certificate of recognition presented on stage.
